Senegal beat Poland 2-1

from ADEWALE OKAFOR in Otkrytie Arena, Russia
OTKRYTIE – YES, it’s Senegal, an African team, coached by African man, redeemed the pride of the continent.
Affectionately known as “The Lions of Teranga”, Senegal transformed the African flame in the ongoing Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup tournament in Russia following their impressive 2-1 victory over Poland.
Goals by Idrissa Gana Gueye (37th) and M’Baye Niang (60′ minutes) were enough to give the Senegalese the much needed three points to send the entire African continent of 1.8 billion people into wild celebrations.
Though the Liverpool striker Sadio Mane could not score, his presence played a huge difference as he always twisted and turned the Polish defenders to inspire Senegal to victory.
Other African teams such as Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and Tunisia fumbled in their opening games of the World Cup casting doubt if ever the continent would ever come right.
After the 90 minutes of regulation time, it was celebration for Africa across the entire continent while congratulating Senegal.
Most interestingly, Senegal are coached by own home-grown mentor and former international player – Aliou Cissé, who also happens to the youngest coach at the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.
