Zimbabwe first lady sets social media ablaze

from SAVIOUS KWINIKA in Johannesburg, South Africa
JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – SOCIAL media in South Africa and beyond is abuzz as controversy trails Zimbabwean First Lady Grace Mugabe, who is accused of assaulting a South African beauty queen.
She (Grace Mugabe) has caused a cyber-storm and diplomatic unease following the confrontation with 20-year model, Gabriella Engels in Sandton, Johannesburg.
President Robert Mugabe’s temperamental wife dominated platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Flickr while major media’s rich site summary (RSS) feeds awash with her name.
Search engines went overdrive.
The Zimbabwe’s first lady deserves CAJ News Africa’s Social Media Award of the Week.
Ironically, another figure mentioned in the race to succeed Mugabe, his deputy Emmerson Mnangagwa, trended on social media following his alleged
poisoning and subsequent hospitalisation in South Africa dominated social media.
Trending on a positive note was Haikande Hichilema, the Zambian opposition leader, who has been caged since April.
Dr Makhosi Khoza, the outspoken African National Congress (ANC)’s expelled Member of Parliament (MP), also dominated social media following her expulsion from the National Assembly’s Public Service and Administration Portfolio Committee.
This follows a run-in with President Jacob Zuma and the ruling party.
