HARARE, (CAJ News) – MORE than 100 000 Zimbabwean homes will be connected with fibre as the fixed telecommunications operator, TelOne, intensifies its footprint.
Unserved, under-serviced and vandalised areas will be given priority during the nationwide exercise.
It is part of plans by the telecommunications operator to fully implement the National Broadband (NBB) project network before year-end.
Following the move, TelOne hopes to increase its revenue for 2018 by 20 percent.
Last year, sole fixed line operator in the Southern African country realised a 14 percent increase in revenue to $133,76 million, citing increased broadband penetration.
TelOne is facing stiff competition from the country’s three mobile network operators- Econet, NetOne and Telecel Zimbabwe – which cover almost the entire 16 million population.
